Review: Devastate by Marley Valentine
They always say to expect the unexpected. Little did I know the unexpected also meant the unthinkable. No longer a wife or a mother, what was once a full and meaningful life was now obliterated; leaving me with nothing but darkness in its place. Until him. Blazing bright and determined to bring me back to life, Lior came knocking on darkness' door. Gentle, yet fierce; he was armed in warmth and healing. He was powerful, persistent and prepared for war. I just don't know if I'm willing to fight or ready to fall.
REVIEW
I knew that when Marley Valentine wrote a book it would be one that tugged at your heart and made you feel. This book gets started on straight away, beginning with an emotional and hard to read goodbye letter.
In this story you follow a widower trying to cope after losing her husband and child, something you could never prepare for. Evie is basically a shell of herself, needing light and direction, help dealing with her grief and moving forward. Lior is patient and persistent, their relationship isn't one that goes in hard and fast, it's nice to see how they develop with each other.
The writing in this story is simply beautiful, Marley Valentine has shown she has a way of manipulating words into sentences so stunning, they're quote worthy. I can't wait to read more from Marley, to hear about the next characters and watch her writing go from strength to strength.
This is an author to watch for sure!
