MOVEMBER ROUND UP!
It's time to wrap up my Male Romance Author month and what a fun month it has been!!
Some (picky) people might say that it's ridiculous or sexist to dedicate a whole month to men, we should read their books anyway and that is true but if I hadn't done this month I probably would have missed these authors for god knows how long! I was nervous about mistakenly calling an author male, I'm still not 100% about Alex Lucian but the book is so good I couldn't care less!
For me personally, I think the sex these male authors wrote was better than some of the sex I've read from women. Which I guess I found surprising because you'd think women would know what they want to read but the men write sex so much hotter and it's less fluffy and more gritty, which appealed to me more.
I did have concerns that maybe I'd find it a bit pervy, mostly because in my search for male authors I stumbled upon a guy trying to get his book sold at Waterstones. I bought the book off of Amazon, as he asked me to take a look, and it was so terrible and so sleazy that you could tell the kid had just written it as his own personal porn. I suppose that's why there is an imbalance of male/female authors. Erotic romance is very female dominant, and fair play, girl power and all, but I'm all for equal rights, especially when it comes to books
Which brings me onto my next point. A lot of male authors are great at keeping their identities hidden. Which I don't think is a bad thing. I have noticed that readers can get overly flirty with male authors, in a way that borders on sexual harrassment in extreme cases. I think M Pierce mentioned on Facebook that he had a stalking issue which got quite scary from the sounds of it. It makes me cringe somewhat, not to mention the fact that if a male reader did it to a female author they'd quickly be accused of lewd behavoir. There shouldn't be double standards.
I can't judge too much, I think I did fall in love a little bit (okay a lot) with each of the authors after reading their books. Viv from Beaute D'Livres will be able to atest that I had a major crush on JD after finishing Insatiable. Same with Cole McCade after finishing The Lost. But I like to think I kept my shit together!!
Another thing I loved is how dark the male authors get. I love a romance, with lots of great sex and an even better plot and the twists that these guys delivered were great. S K Cross and Lucian Bane are great examples of this. I cannot wait to read Indecent Cravings Book 6 (S K) and the rest of the Mercy series (Lucian), these books are so gripping. I'm all for sex but couple it with a mystery/thriller/suspense plot full of shockers twists and I'm in heaven!!
Bravo Men!
I will try to contain myself while I fall in love with your books!!

If you've made it this far, thank you reading my inner ramblings.
