YOU CAN FIND LOVE IN THE MOST UNEXPECTED PLACES...

When I set off travelling for a year to Haiti, I was only looking for a good time. I was young, single, and ready for anything. But what happened to me in that place was something I could never have planned.

Because one night I was kidnapped, blindfolded, stripped of my dignity, and tied up in a dirty cell; held to ransom by a group of mysterious rebels. But little did I know that one of them turned out to be my salvation.

As the days passed, I began to grow closer and closer to this mysterious man – and he grew closer to me too, in ways that I could never have imagined ...

***

I was sent this book by a friend of the author, the author doesn't actually apepar to be on any social media which is rather odd these days! I don't usually read gay romance but that's not to say I have anything against them, just more books are m/f and I don't seek out m/m or f/f stories. I liked the sound of the prologue, so I read on!

The book follows a straight guy who goes travelling alone to Haiti, only to be kidnapped, threatened and blackmailed. But Josh has a secret admirer who makes him feel things he didn't expect to feel. I actually quite liked the story but I did find myself waiting for things to happen. I knew he was going to get taken hostage and part of me was just reading quicker until it got to that bit.

I didn't quite expect it to end the way it did, from the synopsis it's kind of obvious but it felt to me like it just stopped and I'd have liked to told a bit more of the aftermath. But I suppose it can only be a good thing if I wanted it to be longer! I thought the writing was good, there were some typo's but not enough to annoy me. The sex was sweet in places but I didn't find it entirely sexy just because of the setting mostly!

I wouldn't say no to reading anything else by the author but I wasn't blown away by it either. The author, Jackson Blake, has also done a book called Switch which sounds interesting. It's currently 99p so I may give it a look.

Overall, not a bad read, probably really good for somebody more into M/M erotica but not overwhelming for me.
